Physics Class 10 Pairing Scheme

Why Follow the 10th Class Physics Pairing Scheme?

Using a pairing scheme allows students to prioritize "smart study" over "hard study." By knowing which chapters contribute most to the Long Questions and MCQs, you can strategically choose which units to master and which ones to skim.

1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) - 12 Marks

The objective portion consists of 12 MCQs. According to the 2026 scheme, the distribution is as follows:

Chapter No.Number of MCQs
10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 181 MCQ each
12, 14, 162 MCQs each

Note: At least one MCQ will be taken from every unit, while three specific units (12, 14, 16) will contribute two MCQs each.

2. Short Questions Division (30 Marks)

The short question section is divided into three parts. In each part, you must attempt 5 out of 8 questions.

Question #2 (Attempt 5/8)

Chapter 10: 3 Questions
Chapter 12: 3 Questions
Chapter 16: 2 Questions

Question #3 (Attempt 5/8)

Chapter 11: 3 Questions
Chapter 13: 3 Questions
Chapter 17: 2 Questions

Question #4 (Attempt 5/8)

Chapter 14: 3 Questions
Chapter 15: 2 Questions
Chapter 18: 3 Questions

3. Long Questions Division (18 Marks)

This is the most critical part of the paper. You must attempt 2 out of 3 long questions. Each question has a part (a) and a part (b).

Important Note: Part (b) does not strictly mean a numerical. A theory question or a numerical can be asked from any of the chapters mentioned in the pair, depending on your specific board.

Question No.Chapter Pairing (a + b)
Question #5Chapters 10, 12, and 16
Question #6Chapters 11, 13, and 17
Question #7Chapters 14, 15, and 18

Example: For Question #5, the sub-parts will be selected from any two of the three chapters listed (10, 12, or 16).

Essential Preparation Tips for 2026

  1. S.L.O Based Preparation: This year, papers may include Student Learning Outcome (SLO) based questions. Ensure you understand the concepts rather than just memorizing the text.

  2. Focus on Numericals: Don't ignore the examples and exercise numericals in Chapters 12, 13, 14, and 18, as these are frequent flyer in the long question section.

  3. Diagrams & Units: Always draw neat diagrams where applicable and never forget to write the SI units (e.g., Watts, Ohms, Joules) to avoid losing marks.

  4. Past Papers: Combine this pairing scheme with the last 5 years of past papers for the best results.
