Brother Killed His pregnant Sister

A Texan gentleman found himself sentenced to four decades of incarceration for the tragic demise of his expectant sister, an event he cunningly orchestrated to masquerade as a suicide.

Eduardo Arevalo, who was a mere 19 years of age at the time of this lamentable incident, was met with his judgment on June 9 after he confessed to the grave charge of felony murder. The official court documents, as procured by PEOPLE, lay bare the specifics of this case.

Initially confronted with the more severe accusation of capital murder, a charge carrying the potential of a life sentence without the possibility of parole, Eduardo's plea agreement spared him from such a grim fate. The capital murder charge pertained to the untimely passing of his older sister, Viridiana Arevalo, aged 23, who tragically lost her life when she was in the eighth month of her pregnancy. Authorities unveiled that Eduardo perpetrated this abominable act due to his belief that his sister's impending motherhood brought 'shame' upon their family.

Viridiana was initially reported as missing by concerned relatives on December 17, 2019, in The Colony, a suburban enclave near Dallas, as previously documented by PEOPLE.

Initially, family members harbored suspicions that Viridiana might have harbored self-destructive intentions, as a note indicating her alleged desire for suicide was discovered during her absence, as reported by KDFW. Nonetheless, law enforcement would later divulge that Eduardo had confessed to composing the note himself, with the intention of camouflaging this heinous act as a self-inflicted demise. His motive in this gruesome endeavor stemmed from his profound sense of shame regarding his pregnant sister, and he harbored doubts about her competence as a prospective mother to her unborn child.
