The toddler mysteriously vanished whilst engrossed in play within the verdant confines of his foster grandmother's residence on September 12, 2014. In a matter of hours, a multitude of local inhabitants and emergency personnel collaborated in scouring the bucolic community, meticulously investigating scrublands, meandering creeks, and expansive paddocks, yet, regrettably, no vestige of the missing child could be discerned. The law enforcement authorities postulated that this disappearance was a result of deliberate human intervention, culminating in March 2019 when an inquest was inaugurated to probe into the circumstances surrounding William's enigmatic vanishing.
Detectives persistently engaged in interviews, searches, and various investigative endeavors, including those sanctioned by coronial directives. Simultaneously, they scrutinized all available materials, availing themselves of diverse experts' insights. In September, the police revisited the locale where William was last witnessed, commemorating seven years since his perplexing disappearance, appending, "Additional information has surfaced."
The Officer-in-Charge, Detective Chief Inspector David Laidlaw, articulated that the police returned to Kendall as an integral facet of their comprehensive reevaluation concerning the circumstances encircling his disappearance.
"The Strike Force Rosann team, in conjunction with local detectives and specialized forensic officers, revisited Kendall to meticulously reassess the domicile where William was last observed, alongside adjacent areas," conveyed Laidlaw. Subsequently, additional revelations transpired as part of the ongoing review of materials amassed by investigators since the juncture when William vanished seven years ago.
"As our team persist in conducting inquiries and exploring every conceivable avenue of investigation, our paramount focus remains on identifying overlooked elements or nuances, irrespective of their purported insignificance, that necessitate elucidation.
"Police are unwavering in their commitment to unravel the enigma of William's fate, with our foremost duty being to reunite him with both families."
