Disappearance of DeOrr Kunz's

The disappearance of DeOrr Kunz in 2015 remains a mysterious and troubling case. The upcoming HLN special aims to shed light on the investigation by featuring previously unseen police interviews with key family members involved in the ill-fated camping trip.

The individuals interviewed include DeOrr's mother, Jessica Mitchell, and his great-grandfather, Bob Walton. In a sneak peek shared exclusively with DailyMail.com, Mitchell seems to suggest that Walton may feel guilt over the boy's disappearance, a claim he denies. Mitchell implies that Walton might have been involved in DeOrr's vanishing, stating that he loved the child but Walton disputes this, claiming he was not particularly close to DeOrr.

During the camping trip, Mitchell and Vernal Kunz, DeOrr's father, left their son with Walton while they went exploring. However, Walton believed the child was with his parents. It took between 20 and 45 minutes before anyone noticed DeOrr was missing. Mitchell expresses suspicion toward Walton in the excerpt, but he has not been named a suspect in the disappearance.

Mitchell and Vernal Kunz were named as persons of interest six months after their son went missing. Sheriff Lynn Bowerman stated that authorities strongly suspected the couple knew whether DeOrr was alive and where he might be. Despite an exhaustive search involving multiple agencies, dog teams, and sonar equipment, the case remains unsolved.

The HLN special aims to reignite interest in the case, with the hope that someone might come forward with valuable information. The detectives on the case believe that humans, not animals, are responsible for DeOrr's disappearance. However, nearly five years later, the culprits remain elusive, leaving the family and investigators in a state of uncertainty.
