Mrd*er of Meaghan Louise Rose



Detectives hailing from the Homicide Cold Case Investigation Team (CCIT) have procured an arrest warrant for a septuagenarian gentleman in connection to the 1997 slaying of Meaghan Louise Rose on the Sunshine Coast.

On the 18th of July in 1997, the lifeless form of 25-year-old Meaghan Rose was discovered at the foot of Point Cartwright Cliffs at Mooloolaba.

Her vehicle, containing an array of personal effects, was found atop the cliffs.

Preliminary inquiries suggested her demise bore no signs of foul play. However, fresh revelations emerged, unveiling suspicious circumstances, notably the procurement of a life insurance policy preceding her demise.

Subsequently, on the following day, June 26, his vehicle was discovered abandoned at Portland, prompting Victoria Police to initiate a search and rescue endeavor.

Mr. Lees purportedly assumed a pseudonym when approached by law enforcement later that same day in Port Fairy, Victoria.

Investigations undertaken by QPS, with collaboration from Victoria Police, have determined Mr. Lees was observed at a Waurn Ponds shopping center on June 27, where he procured fresh attire.

Furthermore, he was spotted departing Shepparton Train Station on June 27 (Photograph 2). He was also seen donning a distinctive black and white jacket (Photograph 3).

Intelligence suggests he may be in pursuit of casual employment within the agricultural and fruit-picking sectors.

While inquiries persist regarding his current location, it is believed he may still be within Victoria or may have ventured interstate.

It is alleged that Keith Lees was acquainted with Meaghan Louise Rose.

Detectives implore Keith Lees to present himself and beseech the populace for any information regarding his whereabouts to promptly notify law enforcement.

A reward of $500,000 remains in effect for information leading to the capture and conviction of the individual or individuals accountable for Meaghan's demise. Additionally, the government reward offers the possibility of immunity against prosecution for any accomplice, provided they are not the principal perpetrator of the crime, who first discloses such information.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for the former paramour of a young woman in relation to her purported slaying a quarter of a century ago.

The mortal remains of Meaghan Louise Rose, aged 25, were discovered at the base of a precipice at Point Cartwright in Mooloolaba, in the southern reaches of Queensland, in July of 1997.

Initially deemed bereft of suspicion, her case was resurrected following the emergence of fresh intelligence, such as the acquisition of a life insurance policy prior to Ms. Rose's decease. Police disclosed on Friday the issuance of an arrest warrant for Ms. Rose's former beau, Keith Lees.

Homicide detectives visited a domicile in Victoria on June 25 to converse with Mr. Lees, 70, regarding the investigation.

The ensuing day, his automobile was discovered forsaken in Portland, leading Victoria Police to embark on a search and rescue mission.

Subsequently, Mr. Lees purportedly provided a false identity when encountered by authorities later that day.

The septuagenarian was then observed purchasing new garments at the Waurn Ponds shopping center on June 27. He was once again captured on CCTV over 250 kilometers away, departing from Shepparton Train Station on the same day, clad in a distinctive black and white jacket.

Authorities postulate that he may be seeking casual employment within the agricultural and fruit-picking domains.

Mr. Lees may still be within Victoria or may have traversed interstate, according to police statements.

At the time of her demise, Ms. Rose's vehicle, containing a plethora of personal effects, was discovered atop the cliffs.

In June, police announced a reward of $500,000 for information leading to the arrest in connection to Ms. Rose's death. Ms. Rose's sister, Fiona Ratcliffe, issued an impassioned plea at the time.

"Meaghan was a cherished friend to all who encountered her. Meaghan was my confidante," Ms. Ratcliffe expressed.

"I implore the wider community to come forth with any information regarding Meaghan's passing to aid in bringing solace to her family."
