Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed profound dismay at the egregious incident in Visakhapatnam. On Monday, the Andhra Pradesh Police disclosed the apprehension of 11 individuals implicated in the alleged sexual assault of a minor girl on distinct occasions in Visakhapatnam, as reported by the news agency PTI. The girl, hailing from Odisha, narrated to the authorities that her boyfriend, under the guise of celebrating her birthday on December 17, led her to a hotel room. Subsequently, her boyfriend engaged in intimate relations with her and summoned an associate to the premises.
"Her boyfriend brought along a companion who also subjected the girl to sexual assault," conveyed Visakhapatnam Zone-1 Deputy Commissioner of Police, K. Srinivas Rao, to PTI.

Rao elucidated that, overwhelmed by the mental anguish, the girl contemplated ending her life at RK Beach in the port city. However, a photographer employed at the beach engaged her in conversation, escorting her to a lodge where she became a victim of sexual assault.
Later, he transported her to another chamber, where eight to nine acquaintances of the photographer perpetrated further violations against the minor over a span of two days. "Subsequently, the girl managed to extricate herself and abscond," PTI quoted the officer as stating.
The incident surfaced following the filing of a missing person report by the minor's parents.
"In response to a complaint lodged by the minor girl's parents on December 18, we initiated a missing persons case on the same day and commenced an inquiry. We received intelligence indicating her presence in Odisha. Promptly, our police team journeyed there and repatriated her on December 25," stated Rao.
The police indicated that the girl endured the photographer and his associates' assaults on December 20, 21, and 22. They are also investigating the possibility of additional instances of sexual assault on December 18 and 19.
Rao disclosed that the police have reclassified the missing person case as a rape case (IPC Section 376) and incorporated the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act (POCSO).
'My heart aches in shame'
Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu conveyed his distress and consternation regarding the incident.
"My heart aches in shame, and my heart is heavy with sorrow at this heinous crime in Vizag (Visakhapatnam)," Naidu articulated on X, formerly recognized as Twitter.
He further asserted a severe breakdown in law and order under the governance of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh.
"Criminals persist in inflicting harm upon our daughters and sisters without trepidation of the law because they are cognizant of the absence of law and order in YSRCP-ruled Andhra Pradesh. The vision of YS Jagan appears to empower solely those who prey on women, disregarding the empowerment of women," he penned.
