Missing Heidi Planck

The 39-year-old Californian mother has not been seen since she abruptly left her son's football game at halftime with her dog, Seven, in Downey, Los Angeles, on October 17. She was scheduled to pick him up from his school in West LA on October 20 but failed to appear.

In a court declaration, Wayne, her ex-husband, revealed that she is missing and he is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their son in order to arrange therapy for him.

"I urgently require these orders to ensure our son receives immediate therapy, as he is utterly devastated by his mother’s disappearance," Wayne stated in the filing.

Newly released security footage captured the missing woman, Heidi Planck, walking her dog near the Hope + Flower building in downtown Los Angeles on the day she vanished.

Planck, 39, was last seen at her son's football game on October 17, and her disappearance was reported three days later when she failed to collect her son from school.

Court documents obtained by DailyMail.com indicate that Planck has a history of drug use, erratic behavior, and psychotic breakdowns.

James Wayne, her ex-husband, had previously expressed concerns for their son’s safety, filing for custody in 2015, where he cited an "immediate risk of harm" due to Planck’s instability.

Wayne also recalled a disturbing incident where she destroyed their then-four-year-old son's bedroom, leaped out of a window, and climbed over a fence. Neighbors alerted the authorities, who found her partially clothed, toggling a circuit breaker in a nearby yard.

Wayne was granted full custody of their now 11-year-old son last month, following a filing made six days after her disappearance in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

On October 17, Heidi was last seen on security footage leaving her Downey home with her dog, Seven, in her gray 2017 Range Rover. A new video obtained by CBS Los Angeles shows her with the dog on a leash shortly afterward. However, her dog was later found alone on the 28th floor of the luxury high-rise that same day, with no sign of Heidi.

Her car remains missing, but during a wellness check, police found her laptop and phone at home. Authorities have refrained from commenting on the new security footage, keeping tight-lipped about the ongoing investigation.

They have not disclosed whether foul play is suspected, nor have they named any suspects.

James Wayne, 63, filed documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court on October 26, just days after his ex-wife went missing. The couple had been co-parenting at the time of her disappearance.

DailyMail.com has obtained exclusive access to the court filings, the missing person report filed by Wayne, and the heart-wrenching text messages their son sent to his mother in the days following her disappearance.

In his court declaration, Wayne recounted the last time he saw her on October 17. "She left early from the football game, leaving our son with me. He called and texted her that night with no response. The next day, on October 18, I also texted her multiple times, trying to understand why she left and wasn’t responding."

Wayne continued, "By October 20, when she failed to show up at school, we were deeply concerned. I took our son directly to the police station to file a missing person’s report."

Wayne revealed he had contacted Heidi’s boyfriend, Na’eem Salaam, who lives in San Francisco, along with another close friend, in an attempt to locate her. He even visited her home twice, retrieving her Range Rover’s VIN, but the vehicle’s tracking service was deactivated, preventing him from finding her.

He said he also checked hospitals and even searched obituaries in hopes of finding any trace of her. In desperation, Wayne attempted to use the "Find My Phone" feature on her iPhone and Apple Watch, but the service was disabled.

"I retrieved her business phone from her home on October 20, but all her calls are routed to her personal phone. Neither her employer, her boss’s wife, friends, nor family have heard from her since we last saw her on October 17," he wrote.

"Our son is beside himself, inconsolable, and desperate to find his mother. We are at a point where we must prepare for the worst. As such, I am requesting full legal and physical custody so I can immediately place him in therapy. If we learn that Heidi has been kidnapped or worse, I fear he will be utterly devastated and beyond consoling," Wayne pleaded.

Wayne also recalled their history as divorced co-parents. "It’s the same routine divorced parents know all too well: dropping off your child for the weekend, picking them up from sports or school. It’s a well-rehearsed dance that keeps the family on track, giving children a sense of security in knowing when they’ll next see each parent."

On the clear afternoon of October 20, 2021, it was supposed to be Heidi’s turn to pick up their son from his private school in Los Angeles. However, as the time approached, her ex-husband sensed something was wrong.

Jim Wayne recalled, "I spoke to him Tuesday night and asked if he had talked to his mom. He said, ‘No, I texted her, but she didn’t respond.’ I texted her too, but still, no answer. That’s when I started getting concerned."

He would soon realize his concerns were justified.

This is the story of Heidi Planck, a devoted mother who vanished on what seemed to be an ordinary day, now at the center of a mystery entwined with family, friendships, and an unsettling federal financial investigation. As loved ones band together to search for answers, the chilling possibility of foul play looms over their efforts.
